Stories & More LLC: Our Mission
The purpose of the 20th Century Live field trip is to help develop a greater understanding of the forces that have molded our nation through one hundred years, to understand the origins of today’s great debates, and to develop the insight and skills to discuss and advocate with civility.
Further, to see that conflicts are inevitable, that leaders matter, that values are at the core of our purpose as a people and a great nation. And, further still, that we are all travelers on this journey, we all have a voice, and that democracy demands our voices be heard.
This program is not a partisan exercise. It is an exploration of who we have been and what we can become. It seeks to promote understanding, betterment for all and, above all, to deepen our understanding of Civics, our appreciation for common ground, and the values that make our nation all that it is and can be.
This program features discussion, film, debate, reenactment, guest speakers and more to dramatize our past and to make it a part of our worldview today.
It models listening, it encourages critical thinking, it promotes participation and curiosity about the issues that form our collective destiny.
Our program seeks, overall, to support the skills and tools of good citizenship in a time of great challenges. We strive to inspire optimism and hope , and participation in the world around us.
